Why help from ExpertEating was needed

Miss X has a demanding job working long hours, often working away and was 2.5 stone overweight. She came to ExpertEating to learn how to eat better to improve her energy levels and health which would allow her to achieve her best at work and enjoy her hectic social life.

Having been on many 'diets' in the past, all of which had worked for a short period of time Miss X wanted a plan which would help her lose weight and keep it off this time!

Assessing the problems

After discussing her current diet and diet history it was apparent Miss X was a serial dieter who categorized foods as 'good' or 'bad' and tried to eat only 'good' foods. When work became stressful (which was very often!) Miss X would reach for a quick fix of chocolate cake.

After a hard day at work Miss X would have a large glass of wine or 2 to reward herself and would often be home late and not have time to cook a 'proper meal'.

What did we do?

ExpertEating helped Miss X to begin to stop thinking about diet and non-diet foods and begin thinking about meals and portion sizes. We drew up an eating plan together which allowed Miss X to have regular meals and snacks at times which would fit with her lifestyle.

We suggested snacks to have available at work to have as an alternative to the sweet treats she was tempted by in the afternoon. This, along with changes to her breakfast and lunch which helped satisfy her appetite for longer and avoid energy dips, helped Miss X drastically cut down her energy intake throughout the day.

Ideas of quick, simple but nutritious meals which could be made within 5 minutes were provided so Miss X could avoid energy dense ready meals or takeaways and still eat quickly after a long day. In order to help prevent Miss X undoing her hard work when she travelled with work we went through the hotel menus from where she stays and suggested the best choices as well as foods and snacks to buy for lunch whilst on-the-road.

The outcome!

The advice we gave allowed Miss X to continue to enjoy cooking with or eating and drinking out with friends whilst still losing weight steadily. Within weeks clothes which had been a little too snug were loose and 5 months later Miss X was off on holiday with a suitcase packed with her wardrobe for her new body-2.5 stone lighter!
